Dr. Jay Holt - Veterinarian

${name}

Dr. Holt grew up on a cattle farm in northern Louisiana and knew early on that he wanted to be a veterinarian.

He did his undergraduate at Louisiana Tech University and graduated from LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Upon graduation, he immediately married Valerie, a vet school classmate, and moved to Las Vegas to begin their new life together as veterinarians. He purchased a small veterinary practice there in 1991 and had 2 children. During his time in Las Vegas, he grew his one-doctor practice into a four-doctor AAHA accredited practice. While growing the hospital, he and his wife elected to rehome numerous exotic animals that were no longer wanted by their owners. This rapidly grew into a ZAA-accredited zoo, housing more than 400 exotic animals, and they continued this for 11 years. In 2018, plans included retirement and moving back home to Louisiana. He sold the practice and moved back home in 2019. By late 2020, he missed veterinary medicine. When having dinner with an old friend, Dr. Guidry, a conversation came up that he could really use help building the new Northlake business. Immediately, it filled a niche, and he began his journey at Northlake Veterinary Hospital, picking up 2 days a week. Dr. Rolt enjoys sharing his experience and knowledge with fellow veterinary staff.

Dr. Holt is now enjoying his semi-retired life. His hobbies include fishing, hiking, camping, flying his own plane and picking on his favorite veterinary technicians. He plans to continue this life until he is truly ready for retirement.
