Paige Hymel, DVM
Dr. Paige Hymel was born in Slidell, LA and attended Northshore High School. She then attended Spring Hill College where she received a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences. It was here that she discovered her love for the human-animal bond and decided to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
She was accepted to the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine where she developed a passion for emergency medicine. She worked two jobs in the LSU veterinary teaching hospital while in school, one of which was as an assistant in the small animal intensive care unit. Her time spent working in the SAICU was recognized when she received the Hershey Comeaux Award of Excellence, an award given by the SAICU nurses to a graduating student they believe provides exemplary care and compassion for critical patients and superior technical skills.
Dr. Hymel now returns to the Northshore to help open up Northlake’s Emergency Department. She is extremely passionate about providing the best care possible to pets in their greatest time for need, all while providing a comfortable and caring atmosphere for their owner as well. When she is not burning the midnight oil in the clinic, you can find Dr. Hymel hiking or taking a walk with her chocolate lab, Duke, who most likely has his signature duck in his mouth.
